Perusing the collection, I felt a little like Alice down the rabbit hole and stumbling through Wonderland.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3737\" title=\"chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-03\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-03.jpg?resize=900%2C600\" alt=\"Chihuly Garden and Glass, Seattle\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3750\" title=\"chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-05\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-05.jpg?resize=900%2C600\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As I always try to do when engaging with art, I savored the exhibition slowly, wandering through the spacious exhibition hall, overwhelmed by Chihuly\u2019s artistry and launching into gasps of delight interspersed with bursts of disbelief.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Observing each piece at a distance elicited superficial appreciation while simultaneously inviting me to study the work up close.<\/strong> One of the most impressive works the exhibit&#8211;a towering seascape sculpture in shades of blue and gold&#8212;impressed me by its sheer size and filled me with incredible respect for the imagination, talent, and patience required to conceptualize, create, and compose each piece.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3741\" title=\"chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-10\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-10.jpg?resize=600%2C900\" alt=\"Chihuly Garden and Glass, Seattle\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3740\" title=\"chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-09\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-09.jpg?resize=900%2C600\" alt=\"Chihuly Garden and Glass, Seattle\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>My favorite work was a smallish room with a clear glass ceiling filled with numerous glass sculptures of varying sizes, hues, and forms. Illuminated from above, color drenched the walls, floors, and visitors in a perpetual shower of vivid, radiant light.<\/strong> I recall lingering there longest because it felt like I was admiring the work from within as part of it instead of observing it from the outside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3739\" title=\"Chihuly Garden and Glass, Seattle\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-07.jpg?resize=600%2C900\" alt=\"Chihuly Garden and Glass, Seattle\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3738\" title=\"chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-06\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-06.jpg?resize=900%2C600\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The dark rooms of the exhibition hall eventually spilled into the outdoors, beginning in the large sunlit Glasshouse and winding its way out into the gardens where sculptures seemed to erupt from the earth as organically as the plants growing around them.<\/strong> I felt as though I\u2019d broken contact with reality and emerged in an alternate universe where Chihuly\u2019s art becomes the work of nature.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3757\" title=\"chihuly-garden-glass-sneak-peek\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-sneak-peek.jpg?resize=600%2C900\" alt=\"Chihuly Garden and Glass Seattle\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3742\" title=\"chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-16\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wanderlustforone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/chihuly-garden-glass-seattle-16.jpg?resize=900%2C600\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m no art critic. I only know what I like and I liked&#8211;no, LOVED&#8211;this.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As an experience designed for quiet observation, Chihuly Garden and Glass gave me the greatest gift: a few hours of whimsy and wonder ideal for the solitary reverie I crave as a solo traveler.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Visiting Chihuly Garden and Glass<\/h2>\n<h3>Make a day of it<\/h3>\n<p>Take the<strong><a title=\"Seattle Monorail\" href=\"http:\/\/www.seattlemonorail.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Seattle Monorail<\/a><\/strong> from downtown to <strong>Seattle Center<\/strong> where Chihuly Garden and Glass is located literally in the shadow of the Space Needle and within shouting distance of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mopop.org\/\">Museum of Pop Culture<\/a>. Although it isn&#8217;t an included attraction in the <a title=\"Seattle City Pass\" href=\"http:\/\/www.citypass.com\/seattle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seattle CityPASS <\/a>ticket booklet, you can purchase a combination ticket for both the exhibit and the adjacent Space Needle for less than buying the two tickets separately. There is also a ticket option for visiting the exhibition twice in the same day&#8211;once during the day and once at night&#8211;to get the complete Chihuly Garden and Glass experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Dine at the Collections Caf\u00e9<\/h3>\n<p>I wasn\u2019t expecting lunch to be one of the highlights of my visit to Chihuly Garden and Glass but its <strong>Collections Caf\u00e9<\/strong> is an exhibit all its own with grin-inducing groupings of vintage items including cameras, radios, fishing lures, cologne bottles, and the like. The best part? Many of the collections are displayed in the tabletops where diners are seated, personalizing the experience (my table was dressed with a colorful collection of strung beads).\u00a0 The second best part?
